Of course my brother and I are gonna trash talk. We’ve had this Suns/Lakers rivalry since the 07-08 season. My bro and I used to challenge on our PS2’s almost everyday and we’d always matchup those two West teams. We were pretty much even most of the time. No matter how much we knew each others moves and strategies, we’d find a way to outmatch each other. Of course, when the real thing came up on TV NBA games, he’d watch in his room and I’d watch in my room. Sometimes we’d even go to the extreme and watch in the same room so we could trash talk face to face, blow for blow, bucket for bucket. Every single year, those two teams have the greatest meetings of the seasons. When my bro moved, it really upset me that we couldn’t have that bond of basketball. No more video games. No more trash talk. No more cheering at the TV. No more yelling “SUNS!” when they go for the bucket. We’d take that rivalry serious to the bone. That’s what has brought me the closest to my brother in my opinion. It really has. It’s brought me to tears that I won’t have moments like that with him anymore. But with a new NBA season, brings a new Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers team, and a new schedule. I’ve looked forward to today, January 10, 2012, just so I could talk to my brother and say, “Hey, you know who’s playing today, right?”.
Suns lost 83-99, but it was a hard fought game. I knew that if I could just be with my brother while watching it, we’d be cheering like it was a damn finals game.
Next meeting: PHX @ LAL February 17. Then LAL @ PHX on the 19th.
